ILU'S Oranges
The installation "ilu's oranges" was created for the opening event of a new chef’s space, located in a building that once served as a fish processing factory, built atop the ruins of historic citrus groves.
The design bridges the legacy of the land with the values of the new space, connecting the past to the present through materials, form, and atmosphere.
The concept draws inspiration from the architectural language of old fish markets and the rhythmic layout of ancient orchards.
Gray and blue bricks were carefully chosen as a neutral backdrop, enhancing the vibrancy of the oranges — striking ceramic “jewels” crafted by ilu.
At the center of the space stands a table made of construction blocks and iron mesh, offering a modern interpretation of traditional market stalls.
The table serves both as a functional work surface for chefs and as a sculptural anchor within the space, highlighting the duality between utility and art.
The design creates an open and interactive culinary experience, with the central area — including the kitchen, archive, and dining zone — serving as the social and operational heart of the space.
Just as laying a cornerstone marks the beginning of a new building, "ilu's oranges" symbolizes a new foundation — where culinary craft, architectural heritage, and material storytelling come together in harmony.
